If you give a Mom a snowday, she will SHRIEK in disbelief when she hears the school closings. After letting the news soak in, she will probably let out a big SIGH and realize that she will have to double up on her morning medication. Not much will get accomplished besides keeping the critters kids fed and entertained. She will have to cancel her wine tasting party, KIDS + WINE = CHAOS.

When she realizes she won’t have to set her alarm and threaten the kids to get up or else……..she will think that maybe, a snow day isn’t too bad.  She will have to change her morning routine. Instead of slurping her morning coffee with Coffee Mate, she will be forced to jazz it up with Bailey’s.

Mommies In Orbit knows she will have to take one orbit at a time today, the natives will get restless around noon.  Little Dude will be good to go if I keep the snacks coming and his laptop fully charged. Dear Daughter, will watch every available episode of Spongebob Squarepants, and once in a while just to keep things stirred up, she will pick a fight with her brother.”You Jerk!”

To which he will respond, “I wish your weren’t my Sister, I didn’t do ANYTHING, I’m telling Mom.”

Waiting, waiting for a snack.

At this point Mom will be in the library and the aliens will be screaming for her, because she is not exactly where they left her the last time. Moms are supposed to stay put.

Smart Border Collie will be waiting for anyone to leave the table for just one moment, so she can steal a tasty snack. The Black Dog won’t know what the hell’s going on and will continue to prance around with every available toy in his mush.

Mom will be counting the days until Spring and there are NO MORE SNOW DAYS, while looking forward to Cinco De Mayo and pool opening day, while sipping on Bailey’s minus the coffee.

Everything will become magical when Dad walks through the door, and he yells, “Hey, who wants to go sledding?”

With that in mind, Mom will have the house to herself again, until the snow people return to deposit tons of  saturated boots, scarves, coats and snow pants, while screaming for hot chocolate. It’s all in a snow day in the life of Mommies In Orbit.

Don’t mess with my toys.
Ahhhh, sanity and sunshine!
