Is that the Trivago guy wearing a suit? Did he get a haircut? What happened to that smirk as he walks off camera? Did he get some sleep the night before? See for yourself! Any thoughts?
As someone who was also bothered by the original commercial actor’s choices and wardrobe, I am unsure if this new update is a success either. Filmed at a distance (what looks 30 plus feet away) from the actor might not be the best creative and marketable choices. It’s filmed without actor close-ups in what could almost be construed as an apology. The changes I will credit where it is do is the actor finally has a belt. What it boils down to in my opinion was the casting and direction were a mismatch. That the commercials with this actor, Tim Williams, might have been more believable with another actor. Whatever it is that Trivago was intending they are getting attention it seems regardless. Perhaps not just for what they were hoping to intend.
