Now that pools are open everywhere, we have to take special precautions with our pets. My dogs love the pool but I’m so careful to keep them away from it when I’m not playing lifeguard. Yes they can swim, but can they get out of the water when they need to? Do they know how to find the stairs? What happens if they fall in and swim until they are exhausted and they are unable to pull themselves out?

I keep all gates to the pool latched and locked to keep my dogs safe. And for the wildlife, I have a Skamper Ramp to help them climb to safety.

I’ve owned a Skamper Ramp for years, it’s a great product. It really works! Attach it to the side of your pool during the Summer and store it in a dry place in the Winter.

Pools are fun, pet safety is serious business!

  1. That’s pretty cool! If we had a pool (I wish), I would definitely have one of those. It occurs to me that it would work on a boat too. When we used to boat, our dog Maggie learned to use the ladder, but that might have been easier for her!
