I’ve asked myself this question many times. How in the heck do kids cause parents to accumulate brain clutter at such an alarming rate? What causes this disturbing phenomenon? When was the last time you were able to have and hold one complete thought in your mind, without significant fragmentation? BK, yep, before kids!
I am realizing that the closer we orbit toward the teen years, the faster my mind fills up with tiny, but colorful, bits of brain clutter. Could this be compared to the Space Junk that we hear so much about? Here at Mommies In Orbit, most everything that happens consciously or unconsciously has something to do with the universe. It’s just the way I’m wired.
Preteens demand, but don’t always get their own way. When we feel the inevitable shift, the parental unit begins to crack, and our brain clutter not only increases in mass, but begins to swirl around in our heads. Preteen babble and bickering are now in full force. Mood swings are comparable to the rides at your local carnival. And Mom hasn’t had ONE complete rational thought for about, well, let’s see, twelve years. Sound familiar?
