If you give a Mom a big red Valentine she will be thrilled beyond the stars. She will give her kids and her Dear Husband a big hug, and then pat them on the head, and send them on their way. She figures that since it’s V-Day, she gets the day off from kids and chores. Nice assumption, huh?
DH will be listening to conversations through closed doors for a change, he will soon realize there are no quiet places to hide from the cave people. For a day, I’m trading in the door slammin’, smart mouthin’, mess making’ kids for the sound of the open road.
I heart you!
Since the forecast sounds promising for a change, she will gas up her hot minivan and head to the nearest shopping mecca. Mommies In Orbit will treat herself to a sit down lunch in a cafe, instead of her typical drive-thru, “do you want that super-sized?”  No thanks, Winter has already super-sized me!
Cave People.
Once in a while she will think about the cave people and wonder how they are doing, but she won’t dwell on that too long. There are bargains to hunt down, lattes to be sipped, credit cards to be used, and peace to be had.
She most likely won’t be home for dinner, so she’ll have to call Dear Husband and instruct him what to prepare. The cave people are picky eaters. While I’m out I  may even have to choose a nice Valentine’s gift for Dear Husband since he has given me the day off and has taken over wrestling with the cave people. Don’t tell him but it may be one of those Barnes and Noble Nook readers, shhhhh! Hope he likes it!
Mommy may even take in a movie on her day out, one with real people, no animation for a change. But by dusk she will begin to miss her human and canine family and start her journey home. It’s been a good day, and she looks forward to the next time her family gives Mommies In Orbit a day off!
