Waiting later in life to have children has its ups and downs. By the time I had my twins I had already lived a lot of life and was used to doing what I wanted when I wanted. When the twins came along, I felt like I was recklessly  spinning in orbit. When they became toddlers and ventured out in the backyard, we would visit with my neighbor, a lovely elderly woman, who I thought the world of and still do. We would trade stories across the fence about her life and grandkids and my newly found life. One day I got so aggravated that my kids kept asking for help with this and that, I must have had the look on my face of, oh not again, can I just please have a conversation with so many interruptions. My neighbor looked at me and said, “But honey, they need you.” Just a few words, from a wonderful woman who passed on her words of wisdom to a new Mom. That was about six years ago and to this day I hear her words when my little dude and dear daughter are asking yet again for help with something.
