Kids are growing up so fast today…. it could be compared to the speed of light! How fast is the Speed of Light? Light travels at a constant, finite speed of 186000 mi/sec. Sound far-fetched? Not around here it isn’t. When I look at young parents starting out with toddlers and infants, I think WOW, could that have been me eleven years ago? What causes time to move so fast?
For Mommies In Orbit, it really depends on which orbit we are currently in and how long we will be there. The pre-teen orbit is proving to be fast and furious, no two days are the same. My kids are always in some kind of motion, whether I like it or not. Channel Chick has a new motorized Razor scooter that zips along up to 10 mph, talk about a trip to the ER! The sound of it is enough to scare any parent, but her analysis of the entire situation is, “But Mom, I can ride my bike just as fast, and you don’t worry about that!”

Rocket Boy has always been a child in motion. When he was younger and he craved a sugary snack, he would run and slide his way to the pantry, knocking down anything in his way! I’m thinking that at this pace, with two of them, I’m gonna need a refueling station.
Whatever we do to try and slow down the process of kids growing up, it doesn’t work, it just goes faster. My kids are like quasars. They might look like faint distant stars, but they are so much more than that. Quasars emit tremendous amounts of energy. and they move extremely fast through space, in fact, they are faster than anything in the universe! Sounds like home, doesn’t it?
“We’re moving faster and faster Mom!” |
