I hear that a lot. When it comes right down to it, the only advantage I’ve can think of is that you get it over with all at once, but after that it’s a circus. It’s a demanding job when they are babies and toddlers and it’s maddening when they are preteens. The jealousy factor ranks high, they both want a lot of the same things, and believe it or not, Mom’s attention is still one of the popular prizes.
And it doesn’t matter I if treat them both the same, Rocket Boy and Channel Chick are thoroughly convinced that I have a favorite, a favorite what, they both drive me nuts! It’s a different ballgame when you have twins and no other children. Since there aren’t any older siblings, who watches the kids when Mom needs to get away? Nobody! At what age is it safe to leave them home alone? Who knows? It’s not the predators I’m afraid of ringing the doorbell, it’s their constant bickering that scares me.
Most of the time they are at odds with one another, but when they do agree, it’s actually eerie. It doesn’t happen very often, kinda like a total eclipse, enjoy it while you can, it’s over in an instant. They remind me of the karate bears, they’re cute and furry. So next time you’re wishing you could have, would have had twins, please, for Pete’s sake, swing by and pick mine up for the weekend. I’ll be glad you did!
“Yo, you’re Mom’s favorite, NO you are!” |
