Mommy Mind on Kids.
We take homework seriously!

From the minute I hear the squealing brakes on the school bus come to a stop, and up until the time they GO TO BED, my chaotic Mommy mind is in full swing. There are only so many things we can accomplish from 4:10 p.m until 9:15 p.m. and the most important task is wrestling with the wranglers until bedtime. I’m goin’ in, and it’s a tough job, but somebody’s gotta do it.

Last night was a prime example of what I’d call a rip roarin’ evening. Everyone was in Barbarian mode, especially Mommies In Orbit, she knows when she’s about to blow! The chaotic Mommy brain gets overloaded and the only way to repair it is to SNAP! I read recently that there are Mommies hurling pitchforks out there. Just read some of their blogs listed under “My Favorite Bloggers” on my site. We’re all in this together!

My family last night in Barbarian mode!!

It’s that time of year, when we are socked in by murky clouds, there are lurking viruses everywhere, the kids are eager to play outdoors, my Mommy jeans are sagging, hell my spirits are sagging too…..WE NEED THE SUN. Being a SAHM Mom during the winter months definitely has it’s drawbacks, isolation is the big one. But when Spring comes, I feel as though I’ve hit the jackpot! Nurseries are exploding with flowers, sunshine is abundant, doggies are happy, all is well with the world again.

Yes, I do bite!

But how do we get from here to there?  Do we hang out at the local martini bar? Do we just shuck our responsibilities and take Mommy only on a spring break, leaving the twin barbarians home with Dear Husband?  Do we pretend that Winter has not gotten to us and just stare at the world with glazed eyeballs, like Grandma’s creepy doll in the attic? How do we get our minds back on track?  Should I ask Dear Daughter and Little Dude with-the-not-so-white-socks?  I’m sure they will have some dandy suggestions for me,

  • “Yo, Mom, chill and have some “Fruit By the Foot.”
  • “Watch as many Spongebob episodes that you can while avoiding homework!”
  • “Ignore the adult world, it irritates them.”
  •  “If all else fails, Mom, stomp and scream and door slam like we do!”

You know I must have done something right in raising these wranglers, I feel better already. The Chaotic Mommy Mind will survive and this too, shall pass.
