A black hole is a part of space that is so dense that not even light cannot escape from the surface. And how does this remind me of my kids?  Black holes are known to warp space, similar to how my kids have warped my brain.  So if a black hole is a segment of space and nothing can escape, doesn’t that sound just a little bit like parenting? Once you sign up, there’s no turning back.

I love this quote from, http://hubblesite.org/explore_astronomy/black_holes/home.html

“Black holes are places where ordinary gravity has become so extreme that it overwhelms all other forces in the Universe. Once inside, nothing can escape a black hole’s gravity — not even light.”

When these black holes bombard one another, as we commonly experience here at home, all the surrounding areas heave like the tectonic plates underneath us. This is nothing new for Mommies In Orbit. In fact, I can usually pinpoint the time when the battle will begin. During this mass upheaval, it’s not safe for man or animal. Most of the time me and Smart Border Collie along with The Black Dog, head outside for a long wait on the porch, until all the heaving and whining is over with.

This is just a regular evening here at home.

So if black holes are so dense that neither matter nor light cannot escape their gravitational pull, where does that leave me? Absolutely nuts! This is exactly how I feel when Thanksgiving and Christmas break begin, unable to escape! My kids smother me with questions, chatter, bickering and some nights make me feel downright claustrophobic! You can never ever escape them!
