Ripoff of the Century!

So what do kids want anyway?  My 10 year old wranglers actually don’t ask for much. Rocket Boy mainly wants electric for his computer, lots of snacks and for his sister to be as far away from him as possible.  He might like some Army-issue ear plugs so he can avoid Mom’s nagging.

Channel Chick wants it all! She wants to mall-it every weekend. She wants dippin’-dots on demand, at $4.00 a pop. She craves those squishy things that are front row and center in every kid store. What the hell is that gel stuff inside those things?

Channel Chick also demands full control over the remote, as you might guess from her name. And she thinks she has the entire house and it’s people under her spell. In place of material items, she craves POWER!  This kid is a force to be reckoned with, at 10! At times I think she would enjoy a separate living space from, well mainly her brother, and of course her parents, especially when they just don’t “understand her.”

My Child, you are way ahead of your years!

Kids around age 10 or 11 are just stuck in between. They don’t want toys, and they are too young for a Best Buy credit card.  When they are bored beyond words Six Flags is only a couple of miles away. And they seem content to play basketball or soccer in the driveway, a big plus for the (over the hill) parents, who can then park their butts in the rocking chairs on the porch. And that’s a good thing!
