With a HINT of coffee! |
Missouri Ozarkian Breakfast. |
You gotta start off Superbowl morning the right way. Here in the Midwest, we have our own special way of starting the day. No Tony the Tiger cereal or crepes or toast with butter. We crave the breakfast of champions, Baileys with a HINT, got that, a hint of coffee or your favorite local brew. I’ve always known that Missouri is called the Show Me State, you gotta “show ’em how!” We like to start off with a hearty breakfast, biscuits and gravy, fried eggs in bacon grease, with a side of sausage and a stack of Happy Flap Jacks drowning in homemade Ozark maple syrup! Don’t forget to take a double dose of your anti-cholesterol meds before breakfast, if you want to make it to lunch.
More butter please! |
After chopping and hauling in firewood for your blazing Superbowl fire tonight, you know you’re gonna work up an appetite.
Bring your clan, including the dozen or so youngins down to Huckleberry’s BBQ, they don’t call it smokin’ good food for nothing! “We don’t serve fruit, salads or broccoli.” Your kids will love it.
Have you figured out how you’re gonna keep the kids occupied and quiet during Superbowl? Well if you haven’t I have some ideas for you. If you run out of cardboard boxes for the kids to play in and your duct tape supply is running low, you can always get them some firecrackers and send them outside. While you’re celebrating inside hooting and hollering for your team, the kids can be blowing up all kinds of stuff outside. If fireworks are illegal in your part of the country, don’t worry, they gotta learn about the local laws sometime, it may as well be now. “You have the right to remain silent…….” Little buggers, they sure know how to have a blast blowing them catfish clear out of the pond! We’re gonna eat good tomorrow!
So good, you’ll need a bib! |
Now what about the four-legged critters, how are you gonna keep them busy? Here in Ozark country we just throw ’em a big ole bone to chomp on. When they’re done with that, maybe they can run you up some possum to go with the catfish for tomorrow’s grub.
So now it’s Superbowl time, break out the feast, it’s time that “The Show Me State” shows you how to have a great Superbowl Sunday.
