Whoever said that taking a family vacation with kids was really a vacation? We just recently returned from Virginia Beach completely rattled from too much family togetherness. Really, how can anyone relax with two twelve year olds in tow? One wants to go fishing and the other one wants to stroll on the Boardwalk! When we mentioned going to a couple of museums, you could have heard the backfire all the way to Jupiter.

We did visit the Battleship Wisconsin, one of the largest and last battleships ever built by the U.S. Navy. We all roamed around the decks in the searing 100 degree temps, while soaking up its history. And this is where I learned the term, potential collision points. It’s bound to happen when you put two kids together day after day during a lengthy Summer break.  They will end up on a collision course and there is not a darn thing you can do about it.

Each and every Summer we go through the same cycle. Kids get off the bus on the last day of school, Mom drops to her knees and wonders how she will get through the days ahead. Some kids go to camps, some go to Grandma’s house and mine just literally stay home and drive me insane.  They don’t DO camps anymore! And so they push my buttons, over and over again.

We try to avoid potential collision points by cancelling all targets, haven’t had much luck with that one! These two are in the hormonal orbit and there’s not much we can do about it.  So we place it on Auto Watch, sit back by the pool and enjoy the 99 degree breeze!

Potential Collision Points!

“Get busy kids, or you’ll mop the decks!”
