Your Brain On Kids. |
You may start second guessing yourself.
“Who am I and where did my life go?”
“Who are you?”
“Whoops, where did I leave the baby?”
“What’s your name, give me a hint?”
“When did I last sit down for a meal?’
“Have I left the house this week, month?”
These nagging questions double as you add more children to the mix.
We start depending on yellow sticky notes to remind us of our daily duties. We post calendars in each room, whiteboards, alarms, anything to prompt us into completing our tasks.
As the kids get older they begin to resemble satellites orbiting around your brain. Like a swarm of bugs buzzing around your head, you just can’t swat ’em fast enough. Trying to talk on the phone may become next to impossible. When you attempt to go the ladies room, you can expect followers who will carry on full-blown conversations through closed doors. If you think you are going to run some quick errands, think again.
Kids come pre-loaded with random questions. Just when you think you got them all answered, out pops another one. You start multitasking and thank your microwave for reminding you with it’s cheerful “beep” that dinner is ready. You feel thankful that the doctor’s office phones you, emails you and texts you that you have an appointment tomorrow.
