So I have a confession to make this year. I never thought I would say, “Geez, school supplies already, is it that time so soon?” My kids go back to school in a couple of weeks, and usually by now I’m chomping at the bit to shove them both out the door and to the bus stop. But this year things are different, could maturity have something to do with it? Maybe on my part and theirs?
By comparison, this has been one of the easiest summers on record to be at home with my kids. They have entertained themselves at least 80% of the time by figuring out what to do on their own, it’s been an introspective time for both of them. This sure beats the past few summers where I found myself rocking back and forth in my desk chair by noon. Maybe it’s because they sleep until almost noon! I guess living with teens has some advantages. Maybe these in between years are to be savored. They are too young to drive, way to young to date, but old enough to have gained some independence from their parents.
I’m gonna label it the “almost tolerable early teen years,” when kids finally break out and begin to resemble the awesome adults they will become someday.

ha – I like that label. My kids are still young enough that they get up as soon as a little bit of light starts brightening up the sky. Like around 5:30 AM! I am looking forward to the age where they sleep it 12! lol ( How is your doggie?)
I’m in favor of anything that will keep the kiddo occupied so he’s not sucked into the world of video games for hours on end.
