If you haven’t heard already, there’s an awesome meteor shower that peaks this weekend, Oct. 21st, compliments of Halley’s comet!

And if you’ve been a fan of Mommies In Orbit, who by the way turns two next month,  you would know that my entire blog is based upon outer space happenings, and how these very explosive occurrences are very much like the behavior we experience from our kids, at each and every age!

  • Like teens and solar flares
  • Parental guidance and black holes
  • Tantrums and supernovas
  • Smart attitudes and asteroids
  • Meteor showers and {eye rolling}, well, you get the picture!

The Orionid meteor shower is acutually a giant cloud of debris left behind by Halley’s comet. And if you’ve read any of Mark Twain’s books, here’s what he had to say about it:

HALLEY’S COMET

“I came in with Halley’s Comet in 1835. It is coming again next year (1910), and I expect to go out with it. It will be the greatest disappointment of my life if I don’t go out with Halley’s Comet. The Almighty has said, no doubt: “Now here are these two unaccountable freaks; they came in together, they must go out together.”
Mark Twain, a Biography

I personally would welcome a meteor shower right here in the backyard. That surely would get this weekend jump-started, or as Jason Aldean would say, “Let’s get this party started.”
