So what direction are we heading today? Dealing with kids requires the steady use of a compass. One day we are heading North and the next day South. I can’t say I remember exactly what it feels like to be a 12-year old, but it sure must have been confusing. We are riding the emotional rollercoaster. We are stuck in Saturn’s rings going round and round.

The needle on the compass has been moving rapidly since middle school began. Each morning and every evening bring a different direction. What’s a Mom to do? I’ve not been through this before, these are my only kids, twins. I’ve got no instruction manual, and no diagram to follow. It feels like I’m navigating in the wilderness. We only have a map, roughly drawn. But I bet if we all stick together, we’ll find our way. I’ve had parents tell me that the worst is yet to come, the teen years. Navigation through the teen years with two kids, the exact same age, will be challenging. I’m hoping for the best. And then there’s always the hope that the folks aboard the ISS (International Space Station) could use a Mom like me to help navigate their course!

  1. I have sons ages 17 and 12 and I think the teen years have been the easiest so far. I wouldn’t go back to the toddler years for all the tea in China.Stopping by from Tuesday Archives.

  2. I dread when mine get to be teenagers. I’ve lived through 2 kids going through it and I’m not looking forward to the other four’s turn. But yes, you WILL get through it together. Hang in there. TALU
