Yes, it’s weird but it’s true. My real new-found freedom that arrived when the kids went back to school, just came to a screeching halt, right in the face of a giant asteroid. My easy breezy Summertime attitude was instantly blown to smithereens. It has been replaced with what we call “Mommy Worry”. Not coffee, nor sweets, not even a trip to the almighty Target can fix this wreck.
It all began when my twins started middle school in August. I think the moon really rocked in its orbit. If this continues, we may be able to see a few of the planets orbiting quite wildly. The coddling feeling from those six years spent in elementary school is gone now, as they enter through the big wide doors at middle school. It’s like a wildebeest stampede!
I have learned quite rapidly that middle schoolers must get up in the middle of the night, to get ready and catch the bus. And just in the nick of time so they can plop down in their seats with droopy eyelids along with barely any brain function and LEARN! And what are they learning? Heck I don’t know, perhaps how to be a coffee addict by the time high school is on the horizon?
Mommies In Orbit has dreamed about kidless days when school was back in session, but instead I’ve been delivered one weary brain and body, two cranky kids, attitude galore, and life in the twilight zone.
How did your kids react to the first month of middle school? I would love to know! In the meantime, I think I’ll take a nap!
