I just found out that our beautiful planet Earth is expecting an asteroid to fly by tonight, Thursday, September 13th. That’s exciting news to Mommies In Orbit.  “The asteroid called 2012 QG42 is about to get its close-up.”

This asteroid is labeled as, “potentially harmless.” Yea right! That’s what they told me when I had kids! Most days I’d rather encounter an asteroid than deal with my kids.  Since they have both started middle school, I’ve noticed more “attitude” than I care to think about. Peace and harmony are a thing of the past.  Living with  TWO preteens under one roof has me dreaming of an Epic Mommy escape.

Not your usual trip to Target or to the mall. I’m dreaming of what my favorite scientists call, Escape Velocity, yep, just like the astronauts do with the powerful rockets. I’m planning on traveling so fast, that eventually I will be able to escape Earth’s gravity! Yea, me! And where will I go? Just about anywhere in outer space where I can’t hear the bickering, see the eye-rolling, or be bombarded by the smart-mouth. Who are these kids anyway?

And when will I come back to Earth? Oh, I’m thinking about the time that my kids manage to “grow up!” I figure in that massive amount of time, I can visit, Jupiter, my favorite planet, whiz by Mars and have a closer look at the Mars Rover, Curiosity, and maybe, if I’m lucky, take a spin with Saturn. I’ll keep you posted!
