I heard the news that a gigantic asteroid is supposed to zip by Earth today, June 14, 2012. Scientists are comparing the size of the asteroid to a city block. Yikes!
“Due to its size and proximity to Earth, 2012 LZ1 qualifies as a “potentially hazardous” near-Earth asteroid.” http://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/story/2012/06/14/asteroid-flyby-earth.html?cmp=rss
If anyone knows what potentially hazardous means, its Mommies In Orbit. Life with preteen twins, including ringside seating for their famous bickering performances, and tempers flaring as bright as our own Solar flares, is enough to cause a headache the size of an asteroid for any parents out there!
Awesome! I’m amazed. I’m used to asteroids zipping right by me. Yep, it’s Summer Break, and my kids at times are quite comparable to smaller scale asteroids. They both exhibit the denseness of a huge rock, at times. In other words they are stubborn and hard-headed!
So how do we survive the Summer of 2012 with kids in tow? Same as we did last year. By repeating our favorite parenting phrases over and over:
- Stop it now!
- Cut it out!
- Get away from one another.
- Go find something to do, or I’ll find something for YOU to do!
- Go outside and bounce a ball or something.
- Shhhhhhh.
- Do you want me to stop this car right now?
- Quit bickering.
- Leave me alone, now!
- If you don’t stop, you’re going to camps galore, way far away!
- And last but not least, please stay out of my space!
Now how far is that asteroid swinging by us tonight? Any chance for me to hitch a ride?
