While I was out today cruising around looking for antique stores, I spyed this chick in an old time phone booth. I haven’t seen one of those in years. Yes, Mommies In Orbit is over the hill,  I did grow up in the era when these hot metal boxes peppered the street-corners. What was it 25 cents to make a local phone call?

Back then I don’t think we were such a germo-phobic population.  If we had been, nobody would have ever called anybody! Germex hadn’t been thought of yet, pay phones were the only way to make a call.  Cell phones were just a dream over the horizon.

You had to stand there and wait patiently for your turn, not knowing how long the person in the booth would be yacking away, this was known as phone booth etiquette
“OK, jerk, you’ve had your turn, get your skinny ass out of there!”
Sometimes you would wait for what seemed like an eternity.

Yikes, how did our parents ever let us out of the house without a cell phone or a GPS receiver? Of course back in the old days we didn’t have a creep hanging out on every corner, just a few flashers and streakers here and there.

It was fun to try and cram as many of our friends into one of these hot boxes, just to see if we could do it! Of course, we were much smaller then, we were kids! That goes for the old VW Bugs too, how many people can we get in here before someone screams, “I’m claustrophobic!”

I wouldn’t want to go back to those days, I love technology, even though it makes us crazy sometimes. For some reason, the chick in the pink hat is holding onto the past, I’m sure she has a valid reason!

Hasn’t this chick ever heard of Sprint?
