I need to get away, far, far away from the little aliens. And I don’t mean Florida, or Texas, or any of those earthly locations. I’m in the midst of planning a trip to Mars! So if Mommies In Orbit starts her calculations and they are correct, given her math background, then how long would it take? Well it would take about seven to nine months. There is one critical element to never forget when making a trip like this, make darned sure that Mars is in the right place at the right time. Mars and Earth are only closest in their orbits about every 26 months.

What about the Channel Chick and Rocket Boy, will they miss me? No, they will be busy with school, they won’t even notice Mommies In Orbit has really taken a trip this time. Just think of the souveniers I can bring back home kids! Is there life on Mars? Will I meet other adult humans who I can talk to without being constantly interrupted?
Mars is the fourth planet from the sun, and it’s colder than Earth, that should suit me just fine. Mars is also half the diameter of the earth. I’ve read that the landscape varies from mountains to valleys and craters. I should be able to get some awesome photos!
“At any rate, modern astronomers say Mars will not make a closer visit to Earth until August 28, 2287, when the Red Planet will be 34,603,170 miles (55,688,405 kilometers) from Earth.” quote from Space Today.
Last but not least, do they have large martinis on Mars? Well I haven’t been able to find any documentation on that, but I will give you a full report when I return!
