7. Bye Bye Darlings.

Oh come on kids, you’re now in what, 4th grade? The drill is the same, get ready for school!!!! I wish it were as easy as the Super-Mom chart on the left. Dear Daughter how could you possibly empty an entire water heater for one shower on such a small body? Were you sleeping?  This morning we were double-tasking, just for you, blow-drying your hair and putting shoes on at the same time.

Little Dude, how many times did I ask you to pack your snack as you continue to wander around the house and tease your sister? Where’s your coat? Tie your shoes. Do you have gloves? Is your backpack in order? Did you PACK your SNACK?

Getting Dear Daughter to eat breakfast is like training for the Olympics. A couple lonely cheerios in a bowl will not energize you through P.E. math, social studies, etc., up until your leisurely 20 minute lunch break. And we wonder why kids have stomaches?

Getting to the bus stop is easy, staying there until the bus arrives is not. I can’t count how many times I’ve had to sprint back home for various forgotten items.  I’m so thankful I don’t have to rush off to work. At mid-life with two ten year olds, I  feel like I HAVE a job! I revolved in the full time job orbit for many years. Now I’d like to do something creative while tending to the kiddos. Maybe become a famous blogger? Do some freelance writing? Make some money, yes, that’s it. Whatever it turns out to be, I’m lucky I can be here when the kids come home and tell me all about the cool and sometimes not so cool things about their day.

The clock is not your friend in the morning.
