The more I spend time with my kids over the excessive holiday break, the more I appreciate my canine kids. Four more days until school starts, now that’s something to celebrate! These kids don’t want to budge, only to inch over to their computers and plant their tiny butts there for the day.  Asking nicely worked well a couple of years ago, before we leaped into the tween orbit. Mom, what are we gonna do? Sled riding is over for now, the temps hit 70 degrees today in the Midwest.  We’ve visited with relatives, opened all the presents, eaten all the cookies, now what? Who would have guessed I would have these thoughts 10+ years ago, riding on the infertility rollercoaster.

Get it kids?

Jumping into parenthood at middle age has been a leap of faith. I didn’t think I was ever going to become a Mom, after years of trying, the high-tech way, and three miscarriages, success at last. TWINS!

Ma’am, you’re havin’ two babies. Yikes, I only figured on havin’ one baby, but I’ll take ’em both!  It’s a done deal.

I had my career first and my kids late, kind of ass-backwards, I agree, but that was how the parenting puzzle came together. So here we are, all together to welcome in the new year.

Two 10 year olds, of course I mean, Little Dude and Dear Daughter, Smart Border Collie, The Black Dog and Mom and Dad, the over the hill parents. But everything is OK, we got our O-KE-DOKE  cheese popcorn, plenty of Diet Sierra Mist, and more love to go around than we know what to do with. It’s gonna be ALRIGHT.

I love you cheese popcorn.
