Energy in a cup.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. From what I saw on television, Black Friday was a hit. Personally, I’d rather sleep in and wake up to a bold cup of coffee. While I did start my Christmas shopping later in the day, I noticed that the people I met were very friendly. People were holding doors open for others, smiling, laughing, and were just generally pleasant. Gone were the tents at Best Buy, sure hope those folks got the bargains.

This year my kids are orbiting in the money orbit. Video games at $50.00 a pop, tween fashions, remote control cars, you name it, they want it. Kids and parents are orbits apart when it comes to money. This particular orbit will be one where parents and kids will not meet very often. Kids believe that money falls from the sky like meteor dust. Parents try to keep from falling into the black holes of debt. It’s a delicate balance, one the kiddos have to learn. But this Christmas Santa will bring some gifts and we will teach our kids to give generously to food pantries, and the Humane Society. And someday we hope they will become the kind and generous adults we long for them to be.
