Even the busiest of stay-at-home moms need something for themselves. A little hobby that entertains you, educates you, helps you grow, or connects you to the world beyond your family gives you your own identity and something you can be proud of besides being an awesome mom. But when you’re busy, you also need a hobby that doesn’t require a lot of time and effort from you, either. Here are four fun and easy hobbies that any busy stay-at-home mom can enjoy.

Start a Blog

Blogs are quite popular these days, and they’re easy and cheap (or even free!) To get up and running. You can write about anything: family, parenting, fashion, makeup, cooking, and just about any other topic you can think of are up for grabs as a blog focus. If you don’t want to focus on any one thing, write a more generic blog that covers anything that comes to your mind. It requires only a little time from you to create blog posts, anywhere from a one a day to one a week or month. It doesn’t even have to be one you publish—keep it private if you’d rather.

Take up Embroidery

Embroidery can be a relaxing, entertaining and even useful hobby. Use a machine and you’ll be able to easily complete projects in a small amount of time, leaving you with plenty of projects to be proud of. Use appliques from somewhere like EmbroideryDesigns.com to create beautiful, elegant designs or ones around a theme like holidays or love. If you become good at it, you can even sell your creations to create some income for your family.

Teach or Coach a Class or Team

If you have some education in a particular subject, a talent or skill, or know a particular sport, you could teach a class or coach a sports team. Check with your local parks and recreation department or homeschooling co-op to get specific details on how to get started with this. This can be especially fun if your kids can join in by being in your class or on your team.

Color

Adult coloring books have become quite popular in the last few years, and they can be very relaxing and therapeutic. As a bonus, you can color alongside your kids. Perhaps the best part of this hobby is that you can easily put it down and pick it back up even in the middle of coloring a specific page or picture. Even if you get so busy you can’t get back to it for weeks or months, you won’t feel like you’re lost and not sure what to do.

As busy as moms are, it’s still important to have something that’s just for you. Easy, simple hobbies that are fun but can easily fit into your current lifestyle are a must. The most important thing is to pick one you enjoy.
