It’s that time of year again when Mommies In Orbit celebrates her freedom again!  My kids went back to school on Tuesday after a long, hot summer! Not that it’s been a super-easy week with twins both in middle school now. It’s a lot more complicated than elementary school, and like my son said the other night, “Mom, I was in elementary school for 1/2 of my life!” Wow, I had never thought of it that way, this is a huge step forward for any kid going from elementary to middle!

But on the positive side, Mom has some of her freedom back. I’m talking about being able to listen to ANY radio station or CD in my OWN car. Or how about going to eat at a real sit-down restaurant, kinda like grown-ups do, instead of going through the drive thru. I’m pretty sure that The Black Dog and Smart Border Collie are totally enjoying the silence in the house. They definitely do not miss the sibling bickering, door slamming performances, or the loud screeches coming from my daughter’s room. Yes, me and the canines agree that Silence Rocks! We could get real used to this pace.

By 2:40 p.m. our golden silence ceases with the sound of the squeaky wheels on the bus. Here they come, what kind of day did they have, and what kind of mood are they in, hold your breath pups! Stellar Explosion on the way. And we are only at the beginning of middle school, we have many orbits to swirl around in before those pre teen brains fully develop. Yikes!

It’s almost Friday and we can all return to our various, awesome, slacker selves, which we will welcome with open arms. TGIF! Let’s all take a break!

Hey, we’re canines, we love to just lay around!
